Regional data residency. Gender-specific proctoring. A three-week data retention policy. Seamless LMS integration. For a leading Middle Eastern university, secure online assessment had to meet all four requirements simultaneously.

This case study explores how an integrated assessment ecosystem brought these operational, regulatory and cultural requirements together at scale.

The Challenge

A leading public university in the Middle East, serving tens of thousands of students through blended and online learning, was looking to strengthen its digital assessment environment.

The university needed to support secure online examinations while working within a set of specific requirements, including LMS integration, Single Sign-On, regional data residency, gender-specific proctoring, multiple examination formats, detailed audit trails and defined data-retention policies.

The challenge was to bring these requirements together within the university’s existing digital learning environment without adding unnecessary administrative complexity.

The Solution

The university implemented ExamOnline as its digital assessment and remote proctoring platform, integrating it directly with its existing LMS.

Students could access examinations using their institutional credentials, while AI-powered and live proctoring supported identity verification, examination monitoring and automated alerts.

The implementation was configured around the university’s operational and cultural requirements. Examination data was hosted within the region, while gender-specific proctor allocation enabled female students to be monitored by female proctors and male students by male proctors.

The university also implemented a defined three-week data-retention period, after which examination recordings and related data were automatically deleted.

The LMS integration extended through to results, with examination scores synchronised back into the system. This reduced manual data entry and reconciliation, while detailed audit trails and reporting provided greater visibility across the examination process.

The Results

The implementation has supported:

1,500+ secure digital examinations
99% student satisfaction with platform usability
60% reduction in administrative workload

The university also gained a more streamlined assessment process, bringing examination delivery, remote proctoring, monitoring, reporting and result synchronisation into a connected workflow.

Looking Ahead

The integrated assessment environment provides the university with a scalable foundation for its continued expansion of online and blended learning, while maintaining its requirements around security, academic integrity, compliance and operational efficiency.
