Conferences are about far more than presentations and demonstrations, they're about the conversations, ideas and perspectives that continue long after the event has ended. That was the thinking behind Assessment Voices, an initiative created by TEAMCo as part of the Assessment Insight Hub at this year's eAA Conference.

Throughout the conference, we invited speakers, exhibitors and delegates to share short video reflections on the issues, opportunities and innovations shaping the assessment sector.

Although each contributor brought their own experiences and expertise, several common themes emerged, painting a picture of a sector that is collaborative, forward-thinking and committed to delivering fairness in exams for learners.

A Community That Never Stops Learning
One of the strongest messages to emerge was that assessment is an industry built on continuous learning.

As Rory Nath, Partner at ECI reflected:
"You never stop learning about a market."

Assessment is constantly evolving. New technologies, changing learner needs, regulatory developments and educational research all require organisations to adapt. Conferences such as eAA provide an important opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and learn from one another's experiences.

Purpose Beyond Process
Another recurring theme was the sense of purpose that exists across the assessment community.

Oliver Chesher, Founder / Managing Director at Galibier PR captured this perfectly when he said:

"The people in this industry are mission driven and the work they do really drives social value and impact, and that of course makes this a very rewarding industry to be a part of."

While assessment often focuses on qualifications, standards and processes, the conversations throughout the conference highlighted a much broader objective: creating fair opportunities for learners and supporting positive educational outcomes. This shared commitment to social impact is one of the characteristics that makes the assessment community unique.

Collaboration Drives Innovation

Networking and knowledge sharing were consistently recognised as some of the greatest benefits of attending EAA. Shoeb Mozammel, Director of Partnerships at Vretta explained:

"I'm able to network with my peers, attend insightful sessions and find out more about what's new in the assessment space, the requirements and challenges that students are currently facing. I look to modernise assessment so that we can pave the way for students and support success throughout their academic lives.”

This reflects one of the conference's greatest strengths which is bringing together professionals from across the assessment landscape to discuss shared challenges and discover practical solutions. Innovation rarely happens in isolation; it grows through collaboration, conversation and the willingness to learn from others.

AI Continues to Shape the Conversation

Unsurprisingly, artificial intelligence featured prominently throughout many discussions.

For Melis Atalay, Product Marketeer at assessmentQ the possibilities are significant:Looking Ahead

"The things we can do with AI are unlimited. We are enjoying discussions around marking with AI and how we can mark in a fair way using AI."

Rather than viewing AI simply as a technological advancement, contributors focused on how it can be implemented responsibly to improve efficiency while maintaining fairness, quality and confidence in assessment.

Rajeshwari Iyer, CEO at sAInaptic echoed this growing interest from another perspective:

"I'm here to meet clients that I have not met in person and have conversations on what AI can do for assessments."

These conversations demonstrate that AI is becoming an active area of collaboration and exploration across the assessment community.

Looking Ahead

Assessment Voices set out to capture more than individual interviews. It aimed to preserve the conversations happening across the conference and showcase the people driving change within assessment.

The reflections collected throughout EAA reveal a community that is curious, collaborative and committed to continuous improvement. Whether discussing AI, learner success, assessment policy or the value of professional networks, contributors shared a common ambition: to ensure assessment continues to evolve in ways that are fair, meaningful and impactful.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Assessment Voices and helped us capture the conversations shaping the future of assessment.
