The e-Assessment Association has announced that its Chair, Graham Hudson, will step aside following more than ten years of dedicated Board service, including four years in the Chair role. His decision marks a planned leadership transition at a time of organisational strength, as the Association prepares to recruit a new Chair to lead its next phase of development.

Graham said:

"After more than ten years as a member of the Board, and four years as Chair, I have reached the point where I believe the time is right to step aside and allow new leadership to take the organisation forward.

During my time as Chair, the e-Assessment Association has grown into a well-recognised international organisation with an increasingly influential voice in the assessment sector.  Together, we have reshaped our governance, strengthened and broadened our Board, appointed a new CEO, and built a capable and committed operational team.  Our financial position is now secure, our membership has expanded, and our partnerships across the sector have deepened.

For me, this represents the fulfilment of the aims I had when I accepted the role:  to help put the organisation on a stable footing, clarify its purpose, and enable it to engage confidently with a rapidly changing global assessment landscape.

It is precisely because the Association is now in such a strong position that this feels like the right moment for change.  A new Chair will be able to build on this platform, extend our influence further, and help shape the next phase of the organisation’s development.

The Board has therefore agreed to recruit the Chair separately from the current Director vacancies, so that we can attract the widest possible field of strong candidates and ensure a smooth handover ahead of the new Board cycle beginning in September.

Leading the Association has been a genuine privilege.  While I step down with a degree of sadness, I do so with confidence in the organisation’s future;  and with real excitement about what comes next.  The challenges facing assessment, from technological change to regulation and public trust, are significant, but so too are the opportunities to ensure that digitally supported assessment delivers real benefit for learners worldwide."

It is precisely because the Association is now in such a strong position that this feels like the right moment for change.  A new Chair will be able to build on this platform, extend our influence further, and help shape the next phase of the organisation’s development.

The Board of the e-Assessment Association extends its sincere thanks to Graham for his dedication and leadership. His contribution has been instrumental in strengthening the Association and positioning it for continued growth and influence. The Board is deeply grateful for his service and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

The Association now invites expressions of interest from experienced leaders who are keen to help shape the future of digital assessment by applying for the Chair role.
