AQA with Stride Maths – transforming on-screen maths learning by unlocking results
Project Summary
Many students aged 11 to 16 years struggle to make progress in maths. Stride is a set of free diagnostic tests that can quickly identify gaps in a student’s understanding of fundamental maths concepts. Each test is underpinned by one of five key concepts: numbers, algebra, proportions, graphs, and shapes.
Drawing on years of assessment research and expertise, we’ve developed these engaging maths assessments to provide teachers with actionable insights. Immediate feedback enables teachers to provide targeted support to students and allows students to guide their own revision strategies.
Designed to help learners taking GCSEs – for the first time or as a resit – Stride is an effective tool to assess where students are on their learning journey and chances of GCSE success.
Capital City College Group teachers found Stride saves time on lesson planning and has boosted student confidence.
Commenting on being a finalist, AQA said, “We are delighted our formative assessment, AQA Stride Maths, has been recognised as a finalist for the eAA’s International e-Assessment Awards 2025.
As an education charity, AQA is proud to fully fund this innovative maths assessment that allows teachers to see clearly where their students’ gaps and misconceptions are. AQA Stride Maths is already making a significant difference in schools and colleges throughout the country.
Developed by experts, we’ve drawn on years of research to develop this game-changing adaptive assessment. You’ll get instant clarity on your learners’ maths understanding, see their knowledge gaps and take targeted action to close them.
Designed to help students with their GCSEs – either learning for the first time or as a resit – Stride is a quick and engaging way to assess your learners while building independence and confidence.
Best of all, it’s fully funded by us, which means there is no cost to schools and colleges in England.
As the Government reviews the future of curriculum and assessment, it’s vital we consider how innovative technology can play its part, and we believe AQA Stride can help provide solutions to many of the key challenges schools and the sector face, by:

Swiss Innovators Club with Grade Results
Project Summary
The Swiss Innovators Club Not-Profit Educational Association has developed an AI-driven formative assessment system to support student-centered learning and provide real-time, personalized feedback. This solution is embedded into our Grade Results LMS platform, which currently serves around 3,000 students learning asynchronously in online, blended, and homeschooling environments.
One key challenge in formative assessment is ensuring students receive meaningful, timely feedback that translates into learning strategies. To address this, we implemented an AI-powered adaptive quiz system, adjusting questions based on student responses. In our pilot with 150 middle school students, those engaging in at least three formative cycles improved subject mastery by 18% compared to those using traditional methods.
Teachers also play a vital role, using analytics dashboards to track progress and intervene when necessary. In a partner school case study, educators reported that formative assessments reduced repetitive reteaching by 30%, allowing them to focus more on higher-order thinking activities.
By integrating adaptive assessment techniques and teacher-driven intervention, our platform transforms formative assessment into an engaging, continuous learning experience benefiting both students and educators.
Commenting on being a finalist, Swiss Innovators Club said, “We are honoured to be shortlisted for the Best Formative Assessment Award by the e-Assessment Association. This recognition is deeply meaningful to our team at Swiss Innovators Club and reflects our commitment to empowering individuals and organizations through comprehensive educational programs, hands-on activities, and effective application of AI and IT.
Using our proprietary platform, FEYDEY – Grade Results, we’ve been able to implement formative assessment as a powerful tool for growth — offering real-time feedback, intelligent test adaptation, and individualized learning plans to support every student’s journey. Our approach is rooted in the belief that every child has unique potential, and that with the right guidance and tools, we can help each learner thrive.
Being recognised by the eAA reinforces the direction we’ve taken: that technology should empower both learners and educators. It gives our stakeholders — from partner schools to parents — further confidence in the quality and integrity of what we offer.
We’re especially proud of our team, teachers, and school partners who contributed to the success of this project. Their creativity, insight, and dedication to every student made this possible. We’re also deeply grateful to the learners themselves, whose engagement, questions, and feedback continue to inspire us to grow and evolve.
Thank you for this opportunity, we’re excited about what lies ahead.”
