mycelia gGmbH with Open Educational Badges

Project Summary

Our AI-supported tool enables educators to create and issue digital badges based on the ESCO skill framework—quickly, intuitively, and without technical hurdles. This makes it easy to embed skill-based recognition in both formal and informal learning contexts. Learners collect badges on a granular skill level, allowing them to reflect on their strengths and build a foundation for self-assessment and future learning. One of our core innovations lies in the tool’s UX and UI: it makes badges and their underlying skills visually clear, engaging, and easy to navigate. This transparency not only motivates learners but also supports educators in guiding growth in a meaningful, future-oriented way.

ACS International Schools with Essential Skills Badging

Project Summary

I work with 120 partner state schools and I manage 3 independent schools. Our new badging system will allow us to quantify skills and knowledge attained through out of classroom activities such as service learning, community projects, fundraising, clubs and societies etc. Not only does it quantify these skills, but the automatic system awards master skills badges depending on how well practiced they are at that skill. The system gives them the option to upload to social media including Linkedin, creating a record of achievement in the process. The system revolutionises the quantification of non cognitive skills, or in old school terms ‘soft skills’ that are so important for the future work place. We are in the process of getting our industry partners to endorse these badges too, such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra badges for Musical Theatre. With the dashboard system we can process the data in any format for stakeholder reports etc. This was all due to us funding Navigatr to develop a module specifically for us. We are spreading the worked Nationally and Globally and many other schools are interested in using it too.
