The e-Assessment Association is delighted to announce the winners of the Best Formative Assessment Project and the Best Summative Assessment Project in the 2021 International e-Assessment Awards. This is the fifth year of the e-Assessment Awards programme which encompasses all sectors of education: from schools, through further and higher education to workplace training and professional exams. In 2021 the Award Winners are being announced at the International e-Assessment Conference and Awards which takes place over four online events in June.
The winners of the Best Formative Assessment Project and the Best Summative Assessment Project are:
Best Formative Assessment Project sponsored by ACER
- Prodigy Learning. Game-Based Formative Assessment for Young Learners in Computer Science
Best Summative Assessment Project sponsored by TCS iON
- Monash University. eAssessment: Delivering Authentic Assessment at Scale
Congratulating the award winners, Janet Garcia, President at PSI, the Awards’ headline sponsor, said, “While the last 12 months have been challenging, at the same time it has been a seminal period for the e-Assessment industry as a whole. Measures implemented as a result of COVID-19 have driven major change in the industry, as organisations sought ways to continue to assess their test takers securely, safely and accurately. The industry has had to advance in terms of technology and delivery methodology far quicker than would otherwise have been the case, and although this has created challenges, we should all celebrate the ability of our industry to adapt so well to these wholly unforeseen circumstances.”
Professor Bob Harrison, Chair of the Judges said, “As the Chair of the 28 members of the judging panel it has been an enormous privilege and a tremendous source of inspiration to see how collaboration between educators, assessment bodies, technologists and commercial interests have worked together. There is no doubt that COVID-19 has been a catalyst for innovation. Once again, these awards demonstrate the capacity and capability within the world of e-assessment to use technology to improve the assessment process and make it more accessible, reliable, valid, relevant and cost effective.”
Tim Burnett, chairman of the e-Assessment Association, added, “Every year, the Awards shine the spotlight on those who are making a positive contribution to e-assessment and help share best practice, innovation and research in technology-enabled assessment. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists with the high quality of submissions a true testament to the continuing calibre of those within the sector, with the international nature of submissions demonstrating the increasing reach of e-assessment right across the globe.”
