Next Generation Assessment – Planning for the Future Conference, 17th January

Delegate tickets for this conference were hotly contested, so it was fantastic that eAA Board member Teresa Jacobs was able to attend on behalf of the eAA.

Many of the sessions were panel discussions, with technology enabled assessment taking centre-stage in many of the debates. Teresa was really encouraged to see how much appetite there was for change from the wide range of stakeholders on the panels and in the audience. There much debate about the future of the UK’s GCSE post-16 exam and the need to go digital.

Many of the attendees were from the independent school sector, but several of the main UK exam boards also participated including OCR (Cambridge Assessment), NCFE and the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). JISC was also present representing the Further and Higher Education sectors. Teresa reports that her favourite session was a panel of diverse young people who talked about their life and exam experience and took questions from the audience with very candid answers. All in all it sounds as if it was a super conference and it would be well worth having on your radar for next year.
