eAA announce 2014 Board Election

If you’re a long-term member of the eAssessment Association (eAA) you will be familiar with our annual elections for new Board members, culminating in an Annual General Meeting open to all members to attend either in person or virtually in mid-March.

As the eAA continues to grow its membership, it is increasingly important that the Board draws from a cross-section of different sectors of education, workplace learning and from people with a range of e-assessment backgrounds. Therefore, each year a predefined number Board members stand down, creating an opportunity for eAA members to step forward and take on an active role in helping to drive the eAA forward.

During this year’s AGM (26th March), we will be holding a web-based election process for the THREE eAA Board seats that become vacant. If you’re keen to become more involved in the eAA and are interested in putting your name forward for one of the available board seats, then please send an e-mail to me ([email protected]) including the following:

  • 150 word maximum mini-biography which will appear on the voting site (once it goes live) and acts as your advert to the eAA membership to vote for you;
  • Head shot of you (JPEG or GIF), which will appear next to your biography.

The deadline for sending a nomination e-mail is 17:00 GMT on Friday 28th February 2014. The election will then commence on Monday 10th March and close at midnight GMT on Sunday 23rd March with the results being announced at the AGM on the 26th March. Full details of how to vote in the election will be circulated in early March.

It is important to note that ANY eAA member may put themselves forward for election – if you are receiving this e-mail, then you are eligible to stand in the election. If you are successfully elected, you will be committing to a THREE year term as an eAA Board member and you will be expected to take an active role in supporting and promoting the eAA, helping steer future activity to deliver real benefit to the overall eAA membership.

The Board have recently agreed to minimum expected commitment levels from Board members. By agreeing to be nominated (and then elected), you are willing and able to commit to this level of involvement. A copy of the agreement is available on request.

Further details on the AGM, will follow a little closer to the time, but as in previous years we will be holding the AGM on the afternoon of the first day of the annual two-day e-Assessment Question conference being held on the 26th and 27th March 2014 at the America Square Conference Centre in London (see http://www.e-assess.co.uk/ for further details about the conference). AGM attendance is open to all eAA members with free admission if attending in person, together with the option to attend virtually via a webinar.

Please consider standing in the eAA election, as if successfully elected, you will have a real opportunity to influence and drive the way that the eAA develops over the coming years.

Kind regards,

Matt Wingfield
Chairman, e-Assessment Association
