RM signs contract with DfE for PISA 2015 programme

RM Education has been appointed by the Department for Education to run its PISA programme from 2015, following a competitive tender. The contract, which is worth £1.67m, will run for at least 5 years and will help to inform national education policy in the UK. RM Education’s Assessment & Data division will partner with the Institute of Education, University of London (IOE) and World Class Arena (WCAL) to deliver the programme.

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), run by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), is a large-scale international comparisons study which measures the knowledge and skills of young people in mathematics, reading and science. The DfE contract covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

RM already holds the contract for the delivery of the TALIS (Teaching and Learning International Survey) programme, which surveys teachers of lower secondary education and the principals of the schools in which they work. The company’s Assessment & Data division has also worked with the Department for Education since 1994 on the annual production of the National Pupil Database performance tables.

Bruce Harri, Head of Data Solutions at RM Education, said:

“We are delighted to have been trusted by the DfE to run such a high profile and important study: a responsibility which we feel recognises our proven expertise in the collation and analysis of education data.”

RM will represent the Department for Education at international PISA management meetings, the first of which took place in Paris in September 2012.
