RM Assessment to deliver onscreen marking in Slovenia

Following a public tender, Slovenia’s National Examinations Centre has chosen RM Assessment as its partner in delivering an onscreen marking system, to be implemented this year and accessible in schools next year. The Centre’s decision to award the contract to RM was guided by its requirement for a world-class, proven solution which would facilitate high quality, efficient marking of exams. Exam boards worldwide are increasingly investigating onscreen marking due to the opportunities it affords to increase efficiency, reduce risk and improve accuracy.

The agreement includes the purchase of a 3 year licence for the web-based version of Scoris Assessor which will be used to mark the National Assessment of Knowledge (NAK) in the primary education system, comparable to KS2 and KS3 testing in the UK. In addition to the licence, RM Assessment will be providing various support services including installation, configuration and training. The contract follows a successful pilot, delivered by RM, in Slovenia in 2009.

In choosing Scoris Assessor, Slovenia’s National Examinations Centre joins a growing list of organisations which deploy the world’s most widely used onscreen marking application: in this year alone the system will be used to mark around 125 million pages across 76 countries.

Slovenia’s National Examinations Centre’s Director, Darko Zupanc, said,

‘Our decision to implement Scoris Assessor supports our objectives of driving modernisation and improvement in assessment quality and efficiency in Slovenia. We anticipate the move to onscreen marking will reap significant benefits for markers and pupils alike, including improved security and minimisation of risk and error.’

RM Assessment’s Managing Director, John Ingram, commented,

‘We are delighted to be working with Slovenia’s National Examinations Centre on the rollout of onscreen marking. It was felt that Scoris Assessor’s flexible, web-based delivery and proven operational rigour were the perfect match for this forward-thinking organisation’s aspirations.’
