HOST ORGANISATION

ALTE is delighted to work with its member Instituto Cervantes to run and host the 7th International Conference.

VENUE

The conference will be held at the Novotel Madrid Center hotel, in Madrid’s centrally located Salamanca district, just ten minutes’ walk from El Retiro Park.

THEME

Safeguarding the Future of Multilingual Assessment

ALTE’s mission is to set standards of language tests and assessment, sustain diversity of languages (both spoken and signed) through our commitment to multilingualism, and maximise impact of language teaching, testing and assessment in Europe and beyond. Our seventh international conference considers how we can safeguard fair, valid and ethical practices in the light of new developments and innovations in our multilingual field.

STRANDS

Plenaries, paper presentations, workshops and posters will be focused around the four key strands of the conference:

  • Defining the Construct of Multilingualism in Language Assessment
  • Innovations in Language Assessment
  • Fair and Valid Language Testing and Assessment
  • Considerations of Ethics and Justice in the Multilingual Context of Assessment

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The call for abstracts for presentations is open until the end of September 2019. Look at the information for presentation formats and start preparing an abstract if your research relates to one of the conference strands.

LAMI FORUM

The International Conference will once again host the LAMI (Language Assessment for Migration and Integration) Forum, a session devoted to this important and timely area of our field.

ENCOURAGING MULTILINGUALISM

While the main conference language is English, abstracts are welcome in Spanish, French, German and Italian too.

Plenary sessions will be simultaneously interpreted into both Spanish and International Sign Language. Other sessions will be interpreted into International Sign Language on request.
